TEHRAN, Iran (AP) _ Tehran's mayor accused a judge of improper questioning and accepting extracted confessions Tuesday, during his highly politicized corruption trial that has riveted the nation's attention.
The case against Gholamhossein Karbaschi is widely seen as an attempt by hard-line elements in the ruling clergy to topple key officials allied with moderate Iranian President Mohammad Khatami.
In a packed courtroom, Karbaschi sparred with the judge during the trial's third day.
